Most newbies to affiliate marketing tends to skip the first and most important part of finding the right niche.
Believe it or not, it is critical to know your market! "The market" may sound like a cold-term deal, but with affiliate marketing home business, the words should be pulsating with life. Why, you ask? It is simple, because the market is just people, lots and (hopefully lots and lots) of people.
My dad had a wonderful friend, who happened to Sir Fletcher Jones. He was one of the most important clothing manufacturer in Australia. He made top quality clothing from Merino (our famous Australian sheep) wool.
However, Fletcher Jones was not just an ordinary man. He was a self-made man, who, after being forced to retire from the army for war injuries, he was left with a choice of semi-existence of the military pension.
He, however, as the man was, and made other choices. He decided to keep trying to overcome their difficulties and although not a hundred percent fit, he went all around the hot bush towns of western Victoria and started selling rolls of fabric in the travel market. From the sale of cloth, he got the idea to suit themselves, first, on a small scale and then began producing the highest quality suits and pants. He eventually had factories in more than one country.
Its factory is not just a job, it was a second home for their employees. He was attentive, and improved worker conditions. He even developed beautiful gardens with small lake around the factory, so when you're tired workers streamed out of the factory to break for lunch, they were able to throw down the new cut grass and immerse yourself in the beauty of the grounds. I remember, as well as our high school bus passed its factory on the way home from school, we would see the grounds filled with mothers and fathers and children of all trips. It always seemed like a feast!
In fact, people would line up outside the door, only to get the privilege to work there.
Fletcher's customer service was the best. He prided himself in his care for each customer. He had a special department where a customer could go on and get off-the-hip clothing tapered and fitted for each individual body shape and size. customer is king.
to return to my place, I often listen to what Sir Fletcher chatted casually with your dad on the front porch with a river view. One day, my father asked him a question that I will remember for the rest of my days. It was.
"If you could summarize your success in one word, what would it be?" I was a teenager, and I thought, "Mr Jones" would say something like putting money into the company, working long hours or believing in yourself, or just get those employees to give their ounce of flesh. (I mean how can someone be so successful without the relentless !)
His answer surprised me. He looked carefully into the air, but the answer was clear and specific.
"People, " he said. "The business and making money is all about people. treat people with respect. Treat them like family. Be interested in them. Look after them, and you will get ."
I have often thought that, and thought he was right. Affiliate home business is no different.
It's the people who count. You need to know to reach them, as well as your neighbors (if you live in a country town !)
can do it, by asking yourself some questions. If you ask these questions shadowy sense of the word shoppers will come alive with the faces and forms, lines, wrinkles, smiles and hope.
These are the questions.
• Who are these people who want to sell? What are their wishes, concerns and interests?
• What these people have a problem I could solve it?
• Did they burn with a passion that can inspire?
• What do they want to buy?
• Why do not you want to buy it?
• Are these people already active? Can you find them in ezines, on forums or blogs?
• Are these people already know they have a problem? (I do not have to convince them)
• Are they interested in something that is not seasonal, so you have more sales potential? (eg, Santa Claus suits can be sold annually !)
• Are they already discussing and talking about their problems or a passion in the forums, so I can get keyword ideas, and understand the way they speak, so I can talk to them in their lingo?
• Are these people not only on-line already, but they are actually buying things online?
Once you have answered these questions, ask. "If I sat down and had coffee with these people, what would they talk about? What question would you ask me? What I could not really help them and make them serve ?"
In the end, where your focus should be. As Sir Fletcher Jones told my father to an unforgettable day for many years.
"It's all about people! And when the real part of the people, the profits will flow in."
